#7 Hixon Epic – Race Recap

What a great weekend to travel to the beautiful area of La Crosse, WI. The bluffs overlooking the Mississippi make for some awesome views. The weather could not have been much better either. A few of the team camped and the cool nights made for a great weekend of camping. As far as race day it was not overly warm and it was dry!

HIX_0781_16The course at the Human Powered Trails just outside of La Crosse are some of the most technical that the WORS series visit. As a racer you either hate them or love them. The trails will get you outside your comfort zone and beat you up with the rocks and roots. The course makes you concentrate the entire way.

The team had a smaller than normal attendance, but that is understandable as the summer is wrapping up and families are trying to get in those last minute summer vacations. That seemed to be the norm as the fields seem to be a little smaller for the juniors.

The special shout out goes to Reece, for the first time ever he decided to upgrade and race Citizen here rather than his normal Junior Division. WOW…that takes a lot of guts. He would do two laps instead of one. As I mentioned before, this course in my opinion, is the most technical course we do. I give him all the props in making that decision. I know for a fact racing two laps he learned a lot about himself as well as how hard it can be. He survived to race another day as a smarter and stronger cyclist. Way to go!!!!!

The season is done to 3 races left. The team will travel to Green Bay in a couple weeks. It has been a long season and fun season so far.
